What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that is rusted through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in Garmond

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Bath re-enamelling in Garmond, done in place

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We’re often asked to fix an outdated colour you’d like to change and worn patches where water runs and sits, in pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Landlord and trade work in Garmond

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Garmond: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Garmond included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Are there extra charges for Garmond?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Garmond?

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.
