Bath re-enamelling in Grangetown, done in place
Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Typical jobs include a peeling or bubbling previous coating and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

What affects the price in Grangetown
Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The material
- How hard the colour is to match
- The type of damage
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed price
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Natural light rather than flash
- One picture of the entire bath
Most clients in Grangetown get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day, with the bath back in use the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Grangetown. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

For landlords and businesses
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.
What we do, step by step
We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes the best part of a day.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Clear the area around the damage
Ask for a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Advice
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Common problems we fix in Grangetown
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. The body of the bath is normally perfectly sound.
The most common problems we are called about are:
- A coloured bath you want in white
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
Comparing quotes
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- How the colour is matched
- How the room is protected while they work
How to look after the repair
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Store bottles off the bath
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Repair dripping taps early
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.
What a repair cannot fix
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
