About our bath re-enamelling in Skelton

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are an old resurfacing that’s failing and a coloured bath you want in white.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Redcar and Cleveland.

Skelton: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

All of Redcar and Cleveland, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What affects the price in Skelton

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Skelton. The price depends on:

  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Skelton. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

Common problems we fix in Skelton

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

What to look for in a quote

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before booking

When we would advise against a repair

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Skelton

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
