Bath re-enamelling for Hackney Wick homes

Bath re-enamelling in Hackney Wick without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We work on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people get in touch are several chips and rust patches and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the day after. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

What we are called out for in Hackney Wick

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

People usually call us when they notice one of these:

  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Hackney Wick. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire bath

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

FAQs for Hackney Wick

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

What happens after I send photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
