Bath re-enamelling at your home in Halstock

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We regularly repair cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are wear marks under the taps and lots of chips and rust spots.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Store bottles off the bath

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Halstock and the rest of Somerset. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Halstock

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, typically first under the taps and around the waste.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Before you book anyone

  • Aftercare advice
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What affects the price in Halstock

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Halstock. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • The material, if you know it

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
