Bath re-enamelling for Harrow Weald homes

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Bath re-enamelling in Harrow Weald, done in place

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our repair technicians work on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are lots of chips and rust spots and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Common problems we fix in Harrow Weald

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It normally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Harrow Weald questions

Do you work in Harrow Weald?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Harrow Weald and the rest of Greater London. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Harrow Weald. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. Try to include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
