Bath re-enamelling for Hendon homes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Hendon

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. Typical jobs include a peeling or bubbling previous coating and wear marks under the taps, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Hendon

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Look out for any of the following:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Who turns up on the day

Repairing versus replacing in Hendon

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes most of the day, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Hendon: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Hendon?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your SR2 postcode.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
