Need bath re-enamelling in Hull Bridge?

Bath re-enamelling in Hull Bridge without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can typically put it right.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in East Riding of Yorkshire.

Choosing a repair company

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes the best part of a day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Related advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Hull Bridge: your questions answered

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Hull Bridge. Prices don’t change with location.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
