About our bath re-enamelling in Hornsea
We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and people most often call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and an outdated colour you’d like to change.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

What a repair can’t fix
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A bath that’s rusted through
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Surfaces we repair

- Pressed steel baths
For landlords and businesses
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
For anyone letting property in or around Hornsea, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.
Common problems we fix in Hornsea
The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
Customers generally contact us about:
- A roll-top that is seen better days
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off

How it works
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the following day.
Before we arrive
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
How to get a price

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Hornsea. The price comes down to:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
- What the surface is made of
- The size and number of damaged areas
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from photos
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- Details of any past repairs
- One picture of the whole bath
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
Most customers in Hornsea get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Hornsea
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Is there a smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.
Will the new finish last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
How long is the bath unusable?
Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Looking after it afterwards
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Avoid suction-cup mats
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
