Bath re-enamelling in Kingarth

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Kingarth

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We regularly repair acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Kingarth as everywhere else we work.

Repairing versus replacing in Kingarth

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, with the bath ready the following day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Ask for a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

FAQs for Kingarth

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Kingarth.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Common problems we fix in Kingarth

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the colour is matched
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

10 questions to ask before you book

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Store bottles off the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
