Bath re-enamelling in Langland

Common questions in Langland

Do you cover the whole of Swansea?

We work UK-wide, so Langland is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Bath re-enamelling in Langland without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We’re frequently asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a roll-top that’s seen better days, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes most of the day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the whole bath

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Repairing versus replacing in Langland

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
