How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

About our bath re-enamelling in Linchmere

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include several chips and rust patches and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, in pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Linchmere, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What affects the price in Linchmere

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Linchmere. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

When to call us in Linchmere

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How to look after the finish

When we would advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Why repair rather than replace?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

See our full price list and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

The process

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What information do you need?
