The most common problems we are called about are:
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- Several chips and rust patches
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- An outdated colour you’d like to change

About our bath re-enamelling in Lingdale
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for a peeling or bubbling previous coating and worn patches where water runs and sits, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.
All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Store bottles off the bath
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
How it works
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
How to get a price

Repairing versus replacing in Lingdale
Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Lingdale: your questions answered
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.
How long does re-enamelling take?
One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes. Inside and out.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
What happens next?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.
Is there a smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
What we work on
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Should I try a DIY kit first?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
