Bath re-enamelling in Low Common, done in place
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and wear marks under the taps.
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Steel that has corroded right through

How it works
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Before we arrive
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice
For landlords and businesses
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.
Why book with us
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- A fixed quote before you book
- Everything repaired in place
- We leave the room as we found it
Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:
- Access to the area
- The material and finish
- How many areas need work
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
Getting a price from pictures
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Natural light rather than flash
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
Questions from Low Common
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Typically, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Will there be fumes?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.
What information do you need?
Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.
Can pets and children be at home?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, often. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Looking after it afterwards
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, usually first under the taps and around the waste.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
What your quote should include
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- What aftercare is recommended
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
