Bath re-enamelling for Lower Hacheston homes

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Lower Hacheston?

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How to care for the finish

Bath re-enamelling in Lower Hacheston without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s lots of chips and rust spots and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Lower Hacheston: your questions answered

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Do you work in Lower Hacheston?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Lower Hacheston and the rest of Suffolk. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Lower Hacheston?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your IP13 postcode.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Generally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Any details about the material
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Repair or replace in Lower Hacheston?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
