Bath re-enamelling near Marston

Bath re-enamelling in Marston, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. If you are dealing with brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and thin, worn enamel in places, we can help, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Should you replace it?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes most of the day. The room is left tidy.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Marston: your questions answered

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Do you cover the whole of Staffordshire?

The whole UK, including all of Staffordshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Marston

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Several chips and rust patches

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How the room is protected while they work
