Bath re-enamelling at your home in Mere

The bath stays where it is, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. Typical jobs include several chips and rust patches and thin, worn enamel in places, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Wiltshire.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Mere

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Repair dripping taps early

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Mere?

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Choosing a repair company

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour-matched on site
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Same prices wherever you are

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Questions from Mere

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Mere?

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Mere included. Travel is included in the price.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which generally takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
