Bath re-enamelling in Tisbury

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Tisbury. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

About our bath re-enamelling in Tisbury

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include an old resurfacing that’s failing and lots of chips and rust spots, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Repair or replace in Tisbury?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

When to call us in Tisbury

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Before you book anyone

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Aftercare advice
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

Common questions in Tisbury

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
