Trusted bath re-enamelling in Monmouthshire

About our bath re-enamelling in Monmouthshire

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Typical jobs include brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an outdated colour you’d like to change, across pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

FAQs for Monmouthshire

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes a full day. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Honest limits

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

What we’re called out for in Monmouthshire

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A coloured bath you want in white

Before booking anyone

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
