What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a full day. The room is left tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

About our bath re-enamelling in Newbarns

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We are often asked to fix a coloured bath you want in white and stains that won’t shift, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repair or replace in Newbarns?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why Newbarns clients choose us

  • Same prices wherever you are

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Newbarns

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Newbarns. The price depends on:

  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Newbarns questions

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Newbarns?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
