Bath re-enamelling in Barrow-in-Furness without replacing anything

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We are frequently asked to fix a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, in cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

If you manage property in Barrow-in-Furness, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Barrow-in-Furness. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Barrow-in-Furness, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

What we cannot put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What we are called out for in Barrow-in-Furness

Clients generally contact us about:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • An old resurfacing that is failing

Before you book anyone

  • If travel is included in the price
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

Our hiring checklist

What we do, step by step

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day, including clearing up.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Barrow-in-Furness

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Will there be fumes?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
