Bath re-enamelling in Newlands without replacing anything
After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are worn patches where water runs and sits and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Common problems we fix in Newlands
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Stains that won’t shift
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
What your quote should include
- Whether a trained technician does the job
- When it can be used again
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
How to care for the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Newlands. The price comes down to:
- How much damage there is
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- The colour and finish to match
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send photos for a quote
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- The material, if you know it
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Newlands: your questions answered
Are there extra charges for Newlands?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Can landlords book you?
Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
How it works
Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the work takes the best part of a day in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
Getting a price
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
Related advice
Should you replace it?
A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Why book with us

When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

- Victorian roll-tops
