About our bath re-enamelling in Par
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and worn patches where water runs and sits, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Par as everywhere else we work.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
When a repair is not the answer
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- A bath split right through the body
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths

Repair or replace: which is better?
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Par. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What we are called out for in Par
Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Stains that won’t shift
- Several chips and rust patches
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
What your quote should include
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- What protection goes down before work starts
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether a trained technician does the job

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Par. The price depends on:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The material and finish
- Unusual colours or finishes
Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.
Send pictures for a quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- Natural light rather than flash
- Any details about the material
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes. We can do the inside and outside.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Cornwall.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.
How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Par?
Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
How long will the bath be out of use?
Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.
Do you work in Par?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Par and the rest of Cornwall. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What do you need from me?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
The process
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for the best part of a day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
How to prepare
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice
Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Never use suction bath mats
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Respect the curing time we give you
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
