Bath re-enamelling in Pierowall, done in place
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. If you’re dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help.
Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What else we do in Pierowall
What happens on the day
We work cleanly and quietly. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Pierowall
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- Lots of chips and rust spots
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- How the room is protected while they work
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- How soon you can use it again
For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Pierowall as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:
- Access to the area
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The material and finish
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send pictures for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
If you are in Pierowall and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
Pierowall questions
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.
Is there a call-out fee?
There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Should you replace it?
There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Pierowall. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Avoid suction-cup mats
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
