How we handle bath re-enamelling in Potash
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a roll-top that’s seen better days and staining under the taps and around the waste.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Potash. The price comes down to:
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- The colour and finish to match
- What kind of damage it is
- How much damage there is
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Potash. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Natural light rather than flash
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A picture taken from further back
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
For landlords and businesses
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Suffolk and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Repairing versus replacing in Potash
There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

When a repair is not the answer
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Steel that has corroded right through
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Keeping it looking good
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
What happens on the day
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Make sure the room can be ventilated

DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
