Trusted bath re-enamelling in Prendergast

Bath re-enamelling in Prendergast, done in place

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Whether it’s staining under the taps and around the waste and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can generally put it right.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Prendergast. The price depends on:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Questions from Prendergast

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Prendergast?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. You can expect it to take a full day, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Why Prendergast clients choose us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
