Bath re-enamelling in Rhydlafr without replacing anything
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s chips and rust in more than one place and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can generally put it right.
Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cardiff.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.
Is the work guaranteed?

How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- What kind of damage it is
- Unusual colours or finishes
- The size and number of damaged areas
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Getting a price from pictures
Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- The material, if you know it
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Where you are, by postcode
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Advice
Can I fix it myself?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
What we can’t put right
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- A bath split right through the body
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
Materials we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Repairs by material
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Common problems we fix in Rhydlafr
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- A coloured bath you want in white
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
Questions to ask before you book
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- Who will actually do the work
- What happens if they find more damage
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
Should you replace it?
If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why us?
