Bath re-enamelling in Rooksdown

FAQs for Rooksdown

How long will the bath be out of use?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the following day. We give you timings with the quote.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can you quote from photos?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Are there extra charges for Rooksdown?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Rooksdown

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We’re frequently asked to fix wear marks under the taps and an outdated colour you’d like to change, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Rooksdown

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Several chips and rust patches

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How soon you can use it again
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

How to compare quotes

Repair or replace in Rooksdown?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • No need to remove anything
  • No extra charge for your area

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

How it works

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
