Bath re-enamelling near Settle

Bath re-enamelling in Settle, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and thin, worn enamel in places, across Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Settle. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Settle

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of North Yorkshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in North Yorkshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Settle as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.
