Bath re-enamelling in Smalldale

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Bath re-enamelling in Smalldale without replacing anything

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are a coloured bath you want in white and stains that won’t shift.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Smalldale and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire bath

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Questions from Smalldale

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Smalldale and the rest of Derbyshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work in Smalldale?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Smalldale. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
