Trusted bath re-enamelling in Stanford

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Stanford

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Typical jobs include a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Common problems we fix in Stanford

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Before booking anyone

  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Any details about the material
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Most clients in Stanford get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Common questions in Stanford

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Read our prices page and bath cost comparison.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
