Bath re-enamelling in Strathyre

About our bath re-enamelling in Strathyre

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. If you are dealing with a peeling or bubbling previous coating and thin, worn enamel in places, we can generally put it right, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes a full day, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Strathyre

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off

Before booking anyone

  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • Who turns up on the day

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Strathyre. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Strathyre

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Repair or replace in Strathyre?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
