Bath re-enamelling in Thornfalcon without replacing anything
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We’re often asked to fix worn patches where water runs and sits and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Can I fix it myself?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Repairing versus replacing in Thornfalcon
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to care for the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Thornfalcon as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
Questions from Thornfalcon
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Do the materials smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
What happens after I send pictures?
You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
What we do, step by step
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take most of the day, tidy-up included.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.
How to prepare
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Let us know about parking or access

What affects the price in Thornfalcon
Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:
- The material
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How much damage there is
We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
How to get a fixed quote
Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:
- Details of any past repairs
- The material, if you know it
- Something in shot to show the size
- Where you are, by postcode
You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
