Need bath re-enamelling in Toft?

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Toft

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. We regularly repair cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people get in touch are staining under the taps and around the waste and several chips and rust patches.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Same prices wherever you are

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

When to call us in Toft

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • How to care for the finish
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

10 questions to ask before booking

Toft: your questions answered

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Do you cover Toft?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Toft. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Related advice

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say straight away whether it can be repaired.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
