Tile repair for Tongland homes

About our tile repair in Tongland

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. We are frequently asked to fix chips from dropped pans and tools and drill holes from removed fittings, across floor and wall tiles, natural stone & granite and ceramic tiles.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

How we price tile repair

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One picture of the entire tiled area

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire tiled area, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Tongland: your questions answered

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Dumfries and Galloway.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

How do I get a price for tile repair in Tongland?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your DG6 postcode.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire tiled area and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Repair or replace in Tongland?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Marble

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What we are called out for in Tongland

Dropped pans and tools chip floor tiles, while walls end up with drill holes from old fittings. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips from dropped pans and tools
  • Discontinued tiles you can’t replace
  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Damaged tile edges

Before booking anyone

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether they match the colour on site

What happens on the day

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
