Bath re-enamelling in Windle Hill, done in place
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Whether it’s a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can normally put it right, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays alike.
All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cheshire West and Chester.

What we cannot put right
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A bath that’s rusted through
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
What we work on
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
DIY kit or professional repair?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
What happens on the day
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the next day.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about parking or access
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say right away whether it can be repaired.

What else we do in Windle Hill
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Never use suction bath mats
Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Why us?
- We come to you, anywhere in the UK
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Colour-matched on site
- A fixed quote before you book

What affects the price in Windle Hill
Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The size and number of damaged areas
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.
Quotes from your photos
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:
- The material, if you know it
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- One sharp close-up of the damage
You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Windle Hill questions
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote.
Which areas do you work in?
The entire UK, including all of Cheshire West and Chester. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Is there a smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.
What we’re called out for in Windle Hill
Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
Questions to ask before you book
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- When it can be used again
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
