How we handle bath repair in Brockbridge

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. If you’re dealing with chips on the rim or sides and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, we can usually put it right, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

The process

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Repair or replace: which is better?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Brockbridge. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Take a look at our pricing and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

You can take the photos on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your SO32 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Brockbridge

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Brockbridge as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Brockbridge questions

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
