Bath repair in Cartmel without replacing anything

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. A repair stops both. If you’re dealing with a chipped rim or side and scuffs and scratches in the surface, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Repairing versus replacing in Cartmel

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

What affects the price in Cartmel

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

When to call us in Cartmel

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust spots around the plughole

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

How to compare quotes

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
