When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel

Bath repair in Kendal without replacing anything

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and impact holes in acrylic, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repairing versus replacing in Kendal

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Do you need bath repair in Kendal?

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • A chip where the taps sit

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

10 questions to ask before booking

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kendal questions

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed price. You’re under no obligation.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Kendal. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your LA9 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
