Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

About our bath repair in Dauntsey Lock

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. If you are dealing with holes from dropped items and rust by the waste and overflow, we can help, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Your questions about bath repair in Dauntsey Lock

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Will the repair last?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Usually within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Dauntsey Lock. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Do you need bath repair in Dauntsey Lock?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rust spots around the plughole
  • Deep scratches in acrylic

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Dauntsey Lock customers choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a morning or an afternoon, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Clear the area around the damage
