Repairs by material

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Bath repair at your home in East Leake

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and chips along the edge of the bath.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material

Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in East Leake, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

What we’re called out for in East Leake

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move until it cracks.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Deep scratches in acrylic
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

Before booking anyone

Our hiring checklist

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in one visit. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Common questions in East Leake

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

How much does bath repair cost in East Leake?

Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How invisible is a bath repair?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.
