Bath repair for Hutton homes

Bath repair in Hutton, done in place

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles aren’t touched, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are a chip where the taps sit and snagging damage from a refit.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your BS24 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Hutton questions

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Normally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What does bath repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your BS24 postcode.

Do you cover Hutton?

We do. We send a technician to Hutton for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Do you need bath repair in Hutton?

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips under the taps

What your quote should include

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What prep work is covered

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
