When to call us in Locking
Rust typically starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Holes from dropped items
- Chips under the taps
- Rust spots around the plughole
What your quote should include
- How your room will be protected
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What prep work is covered
About our bath repair in Locking
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for a cracked acrylic bath and impact holes in acrylic, on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Repair or replace in Locking?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How the visit works
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Ensure the area is dry
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
How to get a price

Related advice
Keeping it looking good
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Locking questions
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
What about rust by the waste?
Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
What happens next?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.
Are there extra charges for Locking?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
When we’d advise against a repair
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
What we work on
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
Landlord and trade work in Locking
Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
What your bath is made of matters
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
