What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Hycemoor. The price reflects:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The material
- What kind of damage it is
- Whether we combine several jobs
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
How to get a fixed price
Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Any details about the material
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately whether it can be repaired.
Bath repair in Hycemoor without replacing anything
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Typical jobs include rusty patches near the plughole and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in acrylic, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What we do, step by step
When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear the area around the damage
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

When to call us in Hycemoor
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Damage beneath the taps
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
What your quote should include
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether the price covers travel
- How the colour is matched
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
What we can’t put right
We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- A steel bath rusted through
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
What we work on
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
- Pressed steel enamel
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
FAQs for Hycemoor
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.
Do you work in Hycemoor?
Yes, we do. We send a technician to Hycemoor for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Can landlords book you?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Typically. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
Is there any odour?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams.
If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Repair or replace: which is better?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Why Hycemoor clients choose us
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Fixed prices from your pictures
- We leave the room as we found it
