Bath repair in Lackenby

Bath repair in Lackenby, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. If you’re dealing with rust by the waste and overflow and a chipped rim or side, we can typically put it right, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

In most cases. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Tell us about it when you send pictures.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, generally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

Will the repair last?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lackenby use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

If you manage property in Lackenby, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Get a quote

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Store metal items away from the bath

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.
