About our bath repair in Marske-by-the-Sea
We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Common call-outs are for snagging damage from a refit and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, across acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Marske-by-the-Sea: your questions answered
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Is it messy?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Is a bath repair permanent?
Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Do you cover the whole of Redcar and Cleveland?
We cover the whole UK, including Marske-by-the-Sea and the rest of Redcar and Cleveland. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.
The process
Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Related advice
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What affects the price in Marske-by-the-Sea
Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether we combine several jobs
- The material and finish
- How much damage there is
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Send pictures for a quote
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Have new chips seen to early
- Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
There’s nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.
Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Repairing versus replacing in Marske-by-the-Sea
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in one visit. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What we can’t put right
Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.
What we work on
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
