FAQs for Matson

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Matson?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your GL4 postcode.

Bath repair in Matson, done in place

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Common call-outs are for damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and rust by the waste and overflow, across whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a fitted bath usually means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What we are called out for in Matson

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Rust by the waste and overflow

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How to look after the finish

Choosing a repair company

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

What affects the price in Matson

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Matson. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size

Most customers in Matson get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Matson, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
