Bath repair in Merstham

Bath repair in Merstham without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are a hole punched through by something heavy and rust by the waste and overflow.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Your questions about bath repair in Merstham

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Generally. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you come to Merstham?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Merstham from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Our bath repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
