Bath repair in Newton Mountain, done in place

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. Most baths can be used again the day after. If you are dealing with scratches you can feel with a fingernail and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, we can usually put it right, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and pressed steel enamel alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Repairing versus replacing in Newton Mountain

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • One price list for the whole UK

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage

Related advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Have new chips seen to early

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Pembrokeshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Questions from Newton Mountain

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very often. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Are there extra charges for Newton Mountain?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

How invisible is a bath repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Chips caused by builders
