Bath repair in Rhydtalog

Repair or replace: which is better?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

Bath repair at your home in Rhydtalog

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Whether it’s damage beneath the taps and a hole punched through by something heavy, we can help, on roll-top & freestanding, acrylic and whirlpool & spa baths alike.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Bath enamel chip by the waste, filled and colour matched (before and after)

What we are called out for in Rhydtalog

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Fittings cause damage too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

What your quote should include

  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • When it can be used again

10 questions to ask before booking

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Rhydtalog

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Rhydtalog: your questions answered

Do you work in Rhydtalog?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Rhydtalog and the rest of Flintshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is a bath repair permanent?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Rhydtalog, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.
